VW Racing Cup
The Volkswagen Racing Cup is the fastest-growing saloon racing championship in Britain. Founded in 2000 as the VW Cup, the series achieved championship status in 2001 and in 2002 boasted a registered entry of more than 30 cars. The championship is open to almost any model of Volkswagen and has attracted drivers of the Golf, Bora, Vento, Beetle, Corrado, Scirocco, Lupo and Polo. Key to the success of the Volkswagen Racing Cup is the class structure, with rules which match maximum engine power output with minimum weight to ensure close racing within each division. Another key success factor for the championship is the amount of track time offered to competitors. Each of the six meetings features twin races to create a 12-round championship. The Volkswagen Racing Cup is run under the auspices of the British Racing and Sports Car Club, and is administered by Volkswagen Racing UK. The Europcar sponsored Beetle RSi which has a 2.8 rsi V6 engine can be seen competing throughout the 2003 season at the following dates: Volkswagen Racing Cup Calendar:
