Paul Casey
Paul Casey and Europcar have at least one thing in common, the driving ambition to be the best in their fields. The 25-year-old first made an impact back in 1999 in the Walker Cup, becoming one of only three players in the history of the event to record four victories without a defeat, and by doing so helped Great Britain and Ireland win the title. Casey turned professional a year later and in his first full season he won the Gleneagles Scottish PGA Championship. Paul began his 2003 European Tour season in Australia, winning the ANZ Championship at New South Wales Golf Club in Sydney. On the way to winning the title, Paul made two superb shots that earned him the Royal Bank of Scotland Shot of the Month Award for February. In May Paul won his second title of 2003, the 33rd and final Benson & Hedges International Open at The De Vere Belfry winning by 4 shots from Ryder Cup hero Padraig Harrington. Paul's play at The Benson & Hedges earned him the Asprey Golfer of the Month Award for May the second time he has received the accolade. The Benson & Hedges victory was twice as sweet given that it was the site of his professional debut in 2001. In August of that same year, Paul won the Gleneagles Scottish PGA Championship. By virtue of his maiden victory and year-end position at 22nd on the Volvo Order of Merit, Paul was named the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year for 2001. Paul's amateur career is just as noteworthy. In addition to being a member of Great Britain and Ireland's victorious 1999 Walker Cup Team, he is a two-time English Amateur Champion (1999 & 2000) and a three-time Pac-10 Champion, breaking Tiger Woods' scoring record with a 23-under par and becoming the first player to win three successive Pac-10 Championships. While at Arizona State University, Paul earned All American honors three times and his scoring average of 69.87 broke the record previously held by Phil Mickelson (69.95). "I am extremely happy to have been presented the opportunity to form a partnership with Europcar and endorse their service," said Casey. "Europcar is a globally recognised brand and a company, I and other fellow professionals often turn to when competing internationally." Adrian White, Head of Brand Marketing, Europcar UK, said, "Europcar is delighted to have a European Tour professional golfer the calibre of Paul Casey associated with the company. We understand how crucial a good car rental service is to professional golfers competing around the world; the fact that Paul trusts Europcar to service his requirements could provide us with no better endorsement. We certainly expect this to be a winning partnership and wish Paul well for the remainder of his season." "I have such a busy schedule, often playing in a different country each week, that it is imperative I have faith in my car rental company," said Casey. "Europcar provides me with that peace of mind and allows me to focus on what I do best, play golf." |
